COM Yardage Guide

CUT YARDAGE

Cut yardage is available on all current fabrics at prices indicated on the Fabric List/Cut Yardage pricing located in the back of the price list. If swatch label reads "To Be Applied Railroaded", we do not recommend for use as draperies. This indicates that the fabric is woven or printed with top of the design or stripe toward the selvage of the roll. Cut Yardage/Pillow Shipping Charges The Handling and FedEx charges on cut yardage and toss pillows depends on weight and will be applied to your invoice.

Fabric Cutting Criteria

FLOW MATCH - OVERALL

The fabric pattern (design, floral, stripe, plaid) will align vertically on all sides along with a pattern design match from the seat border to the skirt/base on front, sides and back.

FABRIC CUTTING LAYOUTS

The standard or "up the bolt" fabric layout places the top of the cutting pattern in the direction of the fabric bolt. However, the direction of the design woven on the fabric may dictate that the top of the cutting pattern be placed toward the side of the roll (selvage) for proper interpretation of the fabric to the upholstered piece. In so doing, the fabric will be applied "Railroaded." All stripes will be applied vertically unless swatched specifically or requested to the contrary.

COM YARDAGE REQUIREMENTS

The most important factor influencing our ability to process COM orders promptly is the receipt of fabric in the quantity required. Vanguard pays careful attention to detail and calculates the minimum yardage required for each style in our line. If we receive insufficient yardage, our ability to process your order in a timely manner is hampered as we must delay processing while we request additional yardage. Otherwise we must initiate special handling procedures to determine if the order can be completed with the yardage received. Since this process is costly, we will proceed only upon receiving customer approval and at an additional charge of $150 per style.

The COM Yardage Guide (in the price list) is provided as a guide and is based on the normal layout of fabrics. If your pattern has an irregular layout, or if the pattern does not center on the half width (or the full width), then additional yardage will be required. For patterns with one repeating motif centered in the middle of the width of fabric, the yardage shown for 36" width must be used. Unusual placements may incur additional labor, must be approved by the factory, and are subject to additional charge.

In cases where unusual items, (i.e., sheets, duvets, etc.) are to be used, and additional charge will be required. This charge will be determined by the additional time and labor involved to complete the order. We will proceed only upon receiving customer approval.

COL SQUARE FOOTAGE REQUIREMENTS

All square footage requirements are calculated on an average of 50 square foot hides of plain leather. If a hide is less than 50 square feet, it will affect the requirement needed to produce the style. Please use the following criteria to increase your COL leather requirements when hides are below 50 square feet or have irregularities other than a plain leather.

  • Full Hides at 50 sq. ft. with a pattern or direction (example: embossed pattern)
  • add an additional 75% to the COL sq. ft. requirement.
  • Half (1/2) Hides — add an additional 50% to the COL sq. ft. requirement.
  • Half (1/2) Hides with a pattern or direction (example: embossed pattern)
  • add an additional 100% to the COL sq. ft. requirement.
  • Quarter (1/4) Hides
  • please check with the factory before placing orders, as the size of the leather may be unusable in manufacturing.
